| Waterbury and New Canaan Branch Lines Feasibility Study |
The Connecticut Department of Transportation, in cooperation
with the South West Regional Planning Agency (SWRPA), Greater Bridgeport
Regional Planning Agency (GBRPA), Council of Governments of the
Central Naugatuck Valley (COGCNV), the Valley Council of Governments
(VCOG), other state, federal, municipal and local stakeholders,
is conducting this Waterbury and New Canaan Branch Lines Needs
and Feasibility Study to investigate the needs and opportunities
along these two branch lines of Metro-North Railroad. This study,
which began in December 2007, will identify needs, evaluate alternatives,
and define improvements for both corridors.

| Linking
Low-Income Workers with Transportation (2.7MB

| 2005, eight (8) organizations came together
spurred by their common interests to identify,
initiate and/or promote mobility solutions for low-income residents
of Connecticut’s
Lower Naugatuck Valley (“the Valley”) and low-income
wage earners who commute to the Valley to improve their access to
employment that is available in the region. This led to a successful
award of Joblinks Grant Funds from the Community Transportation Association
of America (CTAA) in February 2006. The Valley study area consists
of four (4) major towns - Ansonia, Derby, Seymour
and Shelton – in
the southwestern part of Connecticut. This area has a population
of approximately 84,500 residents. |

| Transportation Improvement Program for
the Bridgeport/Valley Region |

The Greater Bridgeport and Valley
Metropolitan Planning Organization is preparing the Transportation
Improvement Program for the Greater Bridgeport and Valley planning
regions. The TIP lists all proposed highway and transit improvement
projects programmed to receive federal financial assistance from
the US Department of Transportation - Federal Highway Administration
and Federal Transit Administration - over the next five years,
beginning October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2011. The MPO's
TIP conforms to the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)
being developed by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
A
thirty (30) day review and comment period has been established,
beginning on June 23, 2006 and ending on July 23, 2006. The public
is welcomed and encouraged to review and comment on the MPO's draft
TIP, as well as the draft STIP. Copies of the TIP and STIP are
available for review at the offices of the Greater Bridgeport Regional
Planning Agency, Bridgeport Transportation Center, Suite 1, Third
Floor, 525 Water Street, Bridgeport, CT and Valley Council of Governments,
Derby Rail Station, Main Street, Derby, CT, as well as at the offices
of the mayors or first selectmen of member municipalities. The
draft TIP can also be viewed on the Greater
Bridgeport Regional Planning Agency website. |

Air Quality Conformity Draft Resolution (16KB

The Greater Bridgeport-Valley Metropolitan Planning
Organization is required to submit an Air Quality Conformity Statement to the
US Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and to the US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) in accordance with the final conformity rule promulgated by EPA
(40 CFR 51 and 93) when adopting an annual Transportation Improvement Program
or when effecting a significant revision of the Regions Transportation Plan.
This document is available for viewing. Please submit all comments to the
Valley Council of Governments offices. |

The August 2003 Strategic
Plan of Conservation & Development provides a larger
context for addressing development and conservation issues. It
links planning activities between towns and address issues
and functions that can be more effectively discussed at the regional
level. |

to promote economic growth in the region and share locational opportunities
in the Fairfield County and Naugatuck River corridors. |

The CEDS is designed to guide
the economic growth of the region. It helps create jobs, fosters
more stable and diversified economies, and improves living conditions.
It provides a mechanism for coordinating the resources of individuals,
organizations, local governments and private industry concerned
with economic development.
