Through the Regional Brownfields Partnership that VCOG hosts, we provide funding for assessment and cleanup projects from a number of state and federal programs as well as project management services for our municipal members.

EPA ARRA | Former Rolfite Manufacturing Site, Shelton Led by the SEDC, the complicated cleanup of this downtown riverside parcel is nearly complete (10/2011). The City will be soliciting developers to bring the site full circle to productive reuse. VCOG provided some of the cleanup funding under the ARRA and BRLF programs. |

EPA ARRA | Plymouth This site is being incorporated into another parcel to create Waterwheel Park on Main Street. Contamination, some of which may date back nearly 150 years, has been resolved. The site work was completed in October 2011. ARRA & BRLF funding provided by VCOG along with CT Tourism grants made the cleanup possible. |

EPA ARRA | Cherry Avenue, Waterbury VCOG provided ARRA funds are assisting with the abatement of universal wastes during the deconstruction of this former manufacturing complex. EPA, Economic Development Administration, CT DECD and City funding have been combined to make way for more than $4,000,000 of private investment and the preservation of about 50 jobs. |

Former Palmer Brothers, Ansonia VCOG arranged funding and supervised the management of the cleanup of this former manufacturing site. The City was given a forgivable DECD Brownfield cleanup loan and a grant from the VCOG EPA BRLF. The cleanup is complete (as of 10/2011). VCOG is managing the post cleanup groundwater monitoring for the City. It is expected that the site will be renovated into transit-oriented residential development. |

EPA BRLF | Bristol A blighted former gas station has been demolished and extensive contamination remediated at this site, which will now be incorporated into the renovated entrance to Rockwell Park. A $190,000 grant from the VCOG EPA BRLF program funded the cleanup concluded in late 2011. |

DECD | 100 Railroad Avenue, Beacon Falls The Town received a grant from VCOG to conduct a Phase I site assessment to limit its liability should the Town accept the property as a donation. The effects of past industrial use had to be defined to understand the potential cost of any environmental cleanup. The site is still under consideration for use as an EMT training center and storage for the Town. |
